Microneedling

Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that uses a device fitted with fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin's surface. This stimulates the body's natural collagen and elastin production, gradually improving skin texture, tone, and firmness over time.

It is commonly used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, and general skin laxity. The result is a more refined, youthful complexion that continues to improve in the weeks following treatment.

Your appointment begins with a thorough skin consultation to assess your concerns and confirm that microneedling is the right treatment for you. A topical numbing cream is then applied and left on for approximately 30 minutes to ensure your comfort throughout.

The treatment itself typically takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area being treated. You may feel a mild vibrating sensation across the skin, though most clients find it very tolerable. Immediately after, the skin will appear red and flushed, similar to a mild sunburn, which is a completely normal response.

A course of three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is generally recommended for the best results, though this will be discussed during your consultation based on your individual skin goals.

To get the most from your treatment and support smooth healing, a little preparation goes a long way. In the week leading up to your appointment, avoid active skincare ingredients such as retinol, vitamin C, exfoliating acids, and any prescription skin treatments. These can increase sensitivity and affect how your skin responds.

Avoid prolonged sun exposure, tanning beds, and waxing or hair removal on the treatment area for at least one week prior. Stay well hydrated in the days beforehand and arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, SPF, and any skincare products.

Let your therapist know about any medications, skin conditions, or recent treatments at the time of booking so that your appointment can be planned accordingly.

The 24 to 48 hours following your treatment are the most important for supporting healthy skin recovery. Keep the skin clean using a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser and apply only the recommended soothing serum or moisturiser during this time. Avoid touching your face unnecessarily and do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours.

For the first week, hold off on any active skincare ingredients, including retinols, exfoliating acids, and vitamin C. Avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, swimming, and strenuous exercise for at least 48 hours as these can aggravate the skin while it is in its most vulnerable state.

Some redness, tightness, and minor sensitivity are completely normal and typically settle within a day or two. Mild flaking or dryness may occur around days three to five as the skin renews itself.

SPF should be worn daily without exception during the healing period and beyond, as the skin is more susceptible to UV damage following treatment. Results become most visible over the four to six weeks following each session as collagen remodelling takes place beneath the surface.
